Not a good month for Cancers
Back to Full Blog

Hi Folks!

Thanks to all of you for your thoughts and prayers. I retrieved Hubby from the airport about 2 am Tuesday morning. My little mother-in-law had her lump removed and the doctors are optimistic. She made a quick recovery, and was able to enjoy a brief visit with Hubby and with her granddaughter and great grandkids. She's quite a gal.

We had almost 36 hours of peace.

While Hubby and I were getting ready for work yesterday, my dad decided that he needed a hair cut at 7 am. He walked to the barber about 2 blocks away. On the way home, he tripped on the sidewalk and managed to break his jaw at the joints, driving the jawbone into his ears on both sides. For good measure he put his dentures through his bottom lip. Fortunately, there are still some good Samaritans in the world. A passing jogger with a cell phone called me and we were able to get Dad to the ER. He's going to be in the hospital for a few days, at least.

Both our parents celebrated their birthdays the first week in July. Not a good month for Cancers, apparently. My son and Hubby have birthdays this month also.

I hope all of you are well. I don't mean to ignore anyone. I'll do my best to catch up as Life permits.

I Love You, Streamers!

Birthdays aren't good???

A day above ground is better than one below!!!

Sorry about your dad - hope he gets better.

Only birthdays for the first part of July beware. All other birthdays are great, and definitely better than what's in second place.
Thanks for your good thoughts and for stopping by. Hope your week is terriffic.

Thank you, Whispered. How are you doing? I do appreciate the thoughts and prayers. Dad seems to be recovering quickly. Guess I need to watch him better. although that's a lot like trying to put socks on a rooster...

Hi CM! How are you feeling? Wouldn't you know, I sprained my ankle in the midst of all this. So I'm not going to be wandering off with the camera for awhile. (We really should get together and hobble around in tandem. ) Anyway, I hope your week is brite and shiny. Luvya

Bupu:

I don't know how old your father is, but a friend of mine, who is younger I am sure, tripped and fell on a sidewalk and did thousands of dollars of damage to his teeth. It can happen to people who are not considered elderly.

Hi Whit. You are so right, as usual. I'm the clutz in the family, not my dad. I just want to keep him safe, you know?

Oh dear, what a fall your father took! I hope he's getting the best of care. Poor guy. Thank goodness that jogger was kind enough to help him. There really are some nice people in the world.

Good to hear your mother-in-law is doing well also. Sounds like you have a lot going on in your world.

You take care.

You have had one thing after another. That sounds like enough to get anyone to run for cover. So sorry about the health problems. I will be praying for you and your family. And sending you all the positive energy I have....Just hang in there kid and remember you're not alone. Aging parents is always sad to see and it always happens. I know you want to keep your Dad safe and that must have been terrifying. My Mom has been faltering lately and one of my worst fears is that she will fall...I spent a lot of time filling holes in the yard this weekend and yesterday she tripped and almost fell on the front porch *about 3 inches tall* ...Hope your Dad heals quickly.

I'm so glad ya'll had your trip to San Francisco before all this happened.

Hi Donna. How are you doing? It's sad that the kindness of strangers is an unexpected phenomenon rather than the norm these days. My dad is recovering quickly, and I got some much needed reaffirmation of simple human goodness. Strange how these things work. Enjoy your Sunday.

Hi Colo! I hope your mom is ok after her fall. My dad's up and around and almost able to eat solid food again. There's just something topsy-turvy about seeing the stalwart parent I've depended upon my whole life starting to lose his footing. I think seeing the injuries to a parent's pride is harder than the physical ailments.
Thanks for your good wishes. I wish you and yours a safe and happy week.

It's been awhile since my Mom's last fall. It's a miracle that so far lately she seems steadier. Glad to hear your Dad is on the mend.
